Chief Famutimi graduated from the University of Ibadan in 1971 with a Second Class Upper Division Degree in Social Sciences. He worked in various Senior Management capacities in some multinationals including U.A.C. of Nigeria Plc, Pfizer Products Plc, RT Briscoe Nigeria Plc, and Boots Company Nigeria Plc, from where he finally left as the Marketing Director in 1985. He had a brief stay as a Lecturer/Consultant at the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM). He edited the Professional Journal (Management in Nigeria). He was a member of the Inaugural Board of the Federal Civil Aviation Authority (FCAA) in 1990. He was President of the Nigeria-Britain Association (NBA) in 1996. He is currently the President of the Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce (NACC) since October 2014. He currently serves ob the Board of the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce.
He has attended various management courses, seminars and workshops and presented papers both within and outside Nigeria.
He is a member of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), member of the Nigerian Institute of Management, and a member of the Institute European d ‘Administration des Affairs (INSEAD) Alumni Association. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing of Nigeria.
He is the Executive Chairman of Tricontinental Group which includes Tricontinental Oil Services Limited a leading services provider for the upstream sector of the oil industry with operations in three continents, Africa, Europe and the Americas. Tricontinental Industrial Academy, Tricontinental Exploration and Production Limited, Tricontinental Group LLC, based in North Carolina USA, Tricontinental Ghana and Tricontinental Trinidad Limited, with headquarters in Port of Spain. He is the Chairman Mavlin Projects Limited a company engaged in construction services, Chairman of Triangular Properties Limited. He is the Executive Chairman of Nigerian-Romanian Wood Industries Limited. He is the Chairman of McDorsey Limited, the leading name in cell phone repair services and a major I.T.Services provider. He is the Chairman, Converged Dynamics Capital Services Nigeria Limited (CDCSL).
He is one of the founders and a former Director of Goldlink Insurance PLC, one of the leading underwriters quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. He is a member of the elite Metropolitan Club, Lagos, Business Club Ikeja (BCI), the Lagos Dinning Club and the Golf Club Ikeja. He is a foundation member and one of the 50 guarantors of the Nigerian Chapter of the Petroleum Club. He has been a Rotarian since 1982 and past president of the Rotary Club of Ikeja. He is a life member of Ikoyi Club 1938 (he joined in 1975). He is a Trustee of the League of Nigerians in Diaspora (LNID).
